Jesse’s mid-town Toronto restoration project was designed with the goal of turning a detached home built in the 50’s into a modern escape in the heart of the city. The decision to approach this as a restoration was so that our clients could benefit from the existing zoning-by laws that allowed them to have a sunken driveway as well as a much wider existing structure than current zoning by-laws would allow us to build today. With that said, the home is not a historic restoration project and we were able to create a really stunning contemporary facade that is sure to characterize the neighborhood for many years to come. The exterior utilizes a unique thin profile limestone that was specified to create a far more modern profile than even the best brick options would allow. The windows, specifically mounted flush with the exterior to create a sleek and flush look, are sparse in the front to create a feeling of minimalism and privacy while still harnessing natural light at key times of day. The proportions of this home are notable too, offering what seems to be a two storey structure at first glance. The set back third storey however creates a unique location for the principle bedroom, walk in closet, and ensuite complete with a rear walkout terrace. Black

The Contemporary Alpine Chalet offers a unique take on a west coast classic chalet style where designer, Jesse Sahlani, combines a mixture of textures and styles to create the juxtaposition that characterizes the exterior of this grand home. When Jesse designs a contemporary home there is never one single feature that you can point out to categorize the structure within this design style. Instead, a number of minor details create this effect, such as the traditional and dramatic steep peaked roof, clad in smooth custom standing seam metal, and the flat single-storey modern flat roof that tops the rustic limestone front volume. The smooth composite black aluminum panels around the front entrance highlight the sheer size of the transom window above the front door flooding the two-storey foyer with natural light. Square garden beds, sleek chimney caps, and a smooth black garage door are balanced by the natural rustic cedar siding and stone claddings that temper the modern elements of the home to give it an overall contemporary feel. Inside, this home is designed for a growing family and includes amenities that support their needs today as well as their future needs. Four bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and walk-in closets were a priority to make busy mornings easier to ma

Start your feasibility study today to learn more about design costs, interior design costs, construction costs, and our process. . . The preliminary conceptual rendering of the latest traditional French Chateau design by Jesse Sahlani is inspired by the Louvre and the stunning architecture of the surrounding auxiliary buildings. However, this 4,200 square foot home offers luxury in a size-friendly format, as we believe this is a great example of what can be achieved with a 50 foot lot. When approaching the design for this uniquely timeless, and historically accurate custom home, Jesse drew on inspiration from the complex and stunningly intricate masonry details from the past. Some of these details include large porch stone railings, rounded corners, complex cornice details, and fluted accents over the front door. His material of choice could of course be nothing other than limestone, specifically selected for its dark taupe finish and colour variation. This stone is sourced from a quarry in Spain with the hope that as the structure gets older, the patina of this material will change, showing its true depth and richness. The roofing material is a zinc panel material that mimics that of the vast mansard roofs seen throughout Paris. Circular dormer windows built into the roofline offer natural light to the third floor of this stunning estate while serving to elegantly support the authenticity of this ti

Start your feasibility study today to learn more about design costs, interior design costs, construction costs, and our process. . . To Jesse, there is something compelling about English Cottage architecture. These country homes are simultaneously grandiose and classic yet cozy and charming. English Cottages served primarily as second homes for England’s elite — allowing prominent townspeople to take a break from city life and conduct business and pleasure from the quiet comfort of the country. As such, these houses allowed for more architectural play and personalized expression. The oversized chimneys offer a nod to the country cottage style while still feeling grandiose and they often have high-pitched gable rooflines, sometimes mixed with a more shallow-pitched hip roof. Jesse’s latest rendition of an English Cottage is in a much smaller format than typical of this design style. Designed for a 32 foot wide lot in Parkview Hills, this uniquely cozy and traditional feeling custom home offers 2,800 square feet of functionality focused space. On the exterior, the use of light tumbled limestone cladding offers a far more refined, but similar, appearance to that of fieldstone or cobblestone typically used on these countryside homes. Juxtaposing tradition with more unique touches, the roof is clad with traditional cedar shakes and quaint window mullion detailing, while the grandiose front and rear

Start your feasibility study today to learn more about design costs, interior design costs, construction costs, and our process. . . The Chateau Donalda project by Jesse Sahlani is a timeless French Chateau style home that offers elegance and luxurious surroundings both inside and out. Using historically correct neutral stone, a steeply pitched natural slate roof, multiple dormers and arched mullion windows, the French Chateau would not look out of place in Bordeaux or Burgundy, while it’s Art-Deco undertones offer a slightly contemporary influence. The exterior utilizes an Egyptian limestone facade that is custom fabricated to achieve the level of detail desired for the exterior sills and window surrounds, while symmetrical dormer and window proportions create a sense of grandeur. A sun study was completed to show what times of day each room would receive the most light, and the rooms were designed in the sun's path based on the time of day they would most be used. At the rear, larger window and door openings take advantage of the South facing natural light, harnessing 11 hours of natural light through the summer months. The landscape design of the home is just as intentional, creating a cohesive design between the home and the grounds on which it is built. The limestone clad logia will serve as an extension of the living areas of the home creating a three season entertaining space where limestone
